Sports Science Services

We are proud to be able to offer sports science testing and programming for everyone from club athletes through to International performers. We carry out testing from our two Human Performance Laboratories; the best equipped in the Bay of Plenty, or at the participants' own training or playing facilities.

Our fully qualified staff work with groups and individuals, and offer biomechanics testing, anthropometry, exercise physiology, physical conditioning, sports nutrition and mental preparation.

Our facility is accredited to the New Zealand Academy of Sport and we are licensed to provide services to carded athletes from across New Zealand.

Specific Services we Offer

Biomechanics

Biomechanics is the application of mechanical principles to biological systems and covers three main areas: kinematics, kinetics, and functional anatomy.

We provide services for the analysis and enhancement of technique and human movement and have the equipment and expertise for sports specific technique analysis.

Other specialised equipment includes a force plate with a multi-axis force sensor transducer allowing us to assess balance, gait, and sporting movements such as jumping. We use video cameras to capture a large variety of movement and we have a silicon coach for video analysis work.

Anthropometry

Anthropometry is the assessment and monitoring of body composition. We have a bioelectrical impedance machine (inbody230) which gives body composition data and an obesity diagnosis. We use traditional callipers and measuring tape for skin fold and girth assessment.

Exercise Physiology

Exercise physiology is the study of the function of the human body during various acute and chronic exercise conditions. We provide services for the assessment and enhancement of both aerobic and anaerobic fitness.

Physical Conditioning

General physical conditioning is the development of physical fitness through the adaptation of the body and its various systems to an exercise program. We have the equipment and expertise to assess and enhance sports-specific muscular strength and power.

Sports Nutrition

Nutrition is fundamental to peak physical performance. The right diet will optimise energy levels and help the body recover more effectively. Services such as nutrition analysis and sports-specific nutritional advice are available and all services include a professional client report.

Mental Skills

Sport psychology is the study of people and their behaviours in sport contexts and the practical application of that knowledge. Our staff identify principles and guidelines to benefit athletes in their sport in both team and individual environments, and seek to understand how psychological factors affect an individual's physical performance. Our specialist team also provide services to enhance sports specific psychological skills, to improve performance.
